Objective approach

No per-difficulty item manifest is recorded for this guide. Follow the on-screen tracker, then use the notes below to decide what to stage before committing to the final hand-in.

  • Read the objective tracker after every major interaction; many ICARUS prospects reveal the next step only after the current one completes.
  • Stage resources at the hand-in or build site before triggering final timers, wildlife waves, or extraction travel.
  • If the guide has a manifest above, build the Hard list first when possible; it covers lower-difficulty planning and avoids under-packing.
  • Keep the return route open. A finished objective still fails the run if the crew cannot safely reach the dropship or delivery pod.

Preparation

  • Start with a bedroll, campfire or shelter kit, oxygen and water storage, bandages, splints, and enough food to cover the full route.
  • Assign one player to navigation and one to resource accounting so the crew does not duplicate long hauls or miss a delivery line.
  • Use the loadout list below as the minimum kit, then add mission-specific tools before launch.

Hazards and controls

  • No special hazard is recorded, so default to storm shelter, wound treatment, spare tools, and enough ammunition for unexpected predators.
  • Long travel remains the risk: mark caves, water, and emergency shelter locations as you move.

Execution checklist

  • Before drop: confirm prerequisite unlocks, mission timer, loadout, and who carries shared deployables.
  • On landing: locate water, set a respawn point, and confirm the first objective marker before building a permanent base.
  • Mid-run: consolidate loot and mission items at one marked cache; keep one repair kit and medical stack on each player.
  • Before extract: verify every optional delivery, reward unlock, and follow-up objective is complete before leaving orbit-side cargo behind.

LOCATE AND OBSERVE THE NEWLY IDENTIFIED CREATURES

Briefing

LOCATE AND OBSERVE THE NEWLY IDENTIFIED CREATURES
//OPERATOR: NOREX // REGION: OLYMPUS // BACKGROUND: Norex has been in Contact through back channels to request freelance prospector help. // MISSION: Details will be provided on a secure line when on site. //TERMS: Flat fee. All resources and construction materials responsibility of the Contractor.

Walkthrough

Locate and observe the newly identified creatures in their natural habitat. Track Rock Golem movement patterns and document their territorial behavior for Norex.

Objectives

Prep -
Make sure you have ample firearm ammo (shotgun and slugs, rifle/ammo) as well as stuff you think you might need for the below.
Phase 1 - Reach the Outpost in B13.
If you can, start this from the C0NT4CT device on the centre island from the previous mission. It means you don't need to run back to your base prior to starting. Nothing major, the desert area is largely herbivores and non-threatening.
Phase 2 - Create Outpost
You need to create an area with a bed, a machining bench, a biofuel bio-cleaner and an oxite dissolver. Go with a 3x3 base or larger so that you can fit everything in for the next step. Given the propensity for storms in the area (I had an event every cycle!) build wood and upgrade to stone as soon as possible.
There is a cave along the southern wall, toward the eastern edge of B13 which has an abundance of iron, copper and gold.
Phase 3 - Craft Observation Equipment
Craft 3 Frag Grenades, 1 Binoculars and a Taxidermy Knife.
Phase 4 - Kill and Skin Quarrite
Kill and skin Quarrite from B13. B12, C12 and C13. There are a couple of predators that spawn so watch your back! Once you have skinned them all, upload them via the blue marked drop pod.
Phase 5 - Observe the Exotic Subvariant
Find the Exotic Burrow at the NW corner of C13 where the three narrow passages between the cliffs converge. Kill the Exotic and skin it with the taxidermy knife. Once done, close the burrow (if you want, or you can leave it open for other exotics to spawn) and clean the armor at the bio cleaner and once complete you will complete the mission.

Hints & tips

  • This mission is part of the Quarrite Great Hunt chain. Missions within a chain can be completed in various orders, but the Final Hunt requires completing prerequisite missions.
  • 30-day time limit is generous. Great Hunt missions allow extended preparation time. Use it to build a solid base and gather resources.
  • Exotic deposits spawn on these missions. Use the extended time to mine exotics alongside completing objectives.

Recommended loadout

  • Weapon each + shared ammo pool
  • Bedroll, campfire kit, 3× bandage each
  • Food for the full day count, water containers
  • Repair tools + spare pick/axe
